What no soda?!
As this Kim and Jason comic strip (click on it to make it bigger) points out, sometime kids (and adults) crave something sweet and fizzy.
Here's a solution to the sticky soda problem!
Each time I speak to an audience and advise them to cut the soda out of their routine, I get the same reaction. What no soda?! People find it hard to do away with something they enjoy.
Soda, like all sweets, is a treat, not a beverage. Drinking it with a meal or regularly instead of water or other more healthy choices adds calories, acid and chemicals your body doesn’t need.
But, what if you still crave that sweet fizzy taste? Diet soda is a poor choice as well. By tricking your body into thinking sweet things don’t have calories, diet soda can mess with your metabolism and counter-act other healthy choices you are making. Not to mention the artificial sweeteners are again things your body doesn’t need.
Is there a solution?
A friend recently turned me on to IZZE a sparkling fruit juice and I love it! Why?
- There is nothing bad in it! Just fruit juice and sparkling water. All good!
- It comes in a 8.4 ounce can. A perfect serving size.
- The packaging is fun. The shape and colors make it look like one of those energy drinks.
- It tastes good.
My girls like it too. They have never had soda, but liked IZZE and the bubbles. They found it a bit sweet for their taste, so we ended up adding more water (Mommy was so happy -- I usually water down juice by 50% or more)
Of course, you can make your own sparkling juice. Just mix 100% juice with some sparkling water. However, you can’t beat the convenience of picking up a can when you want a little something special.
Try it!

Eliz- I agree it's challenging to get people to change their habits. Even when they know it's good for them its still difficult.
Just the other day I had a woman ask me: "Do you know of any form of exercise that doesn't involve exertion?" I recently posted a blog about this: www.DrKirkLaman.com
I love your practical suggestions for getting people to change their habits.
